GR 4 January 2017

Please join us for the Living History Museum on January 18th

Reading - We will be reading about our natural resources as we look at current and future technology.

Math - We will be continuing multiplication and division review plus area and perimeter.

Science - We are beginning out Earth Science Unit. We will be studying minerals, rocks, earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, and weathering.

Writing - We will focus upon informational reports and continue to review opinion essays.

GR4 - November 21, 2016

Wednesday is a Minimum Day - 1:45 Dismissal
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving

Reading - We will finish reading Because of Winn-Dixie. We will then watch the video when we return from Thanksgiving.

Math - Learn your facts. We are continuing to work on multiplication and division. This week we will also be working on area and perimeter. 

Science - We are learning about food webs. We will also have a STEM on Tuesday.

Social Studies - We will be learning about California under Mexican rule which was just prior to the Goldrush. Watch for information on the Living History Museum.

GR4 9-19-16

This Friday is our Annual Jog-A-Thon

Reading:  Our focus question for this unit is: How do we reveal ourselves to others. We will be reading a series of fictional stories and then discuss and describe how the characters reveal themselves through their actions and their dialogue.

Social Studies: We will  focus upon the early explorers of California.

Math: We will be learning about factors and multiples -  knowing your math facts will greatly help. Remember to practice your math facts!

Science: We are learning about plant adaptations and the process by which plants make their own food.

Art and PE Rotations will continue this week. Your student know which day they have PE so please have them wear appropriate shoes.

GR4 9-6-16

Have a relaxing Labor Day tomorrow. We will see you bright and early Tuesday morning.


Reading:  Our focus question continues to be: How can government influence the way we live? Throughout this unit we will be learning about our local, state, and federal governments. We will also be learning how to find key details and main ideas. This is a very difficult concept to master so we are continuing to work towards mastery.

Social Studies: We will continue to focus upon the early people of California..the California Indians and hunter-gatherer societies.

Math: We will continue rounding of whole numbers. We will also be adding and subtracting whole numbers. Remember to practice your math facts!

Science: We will be learning about Fixed and Growth Mindsets.

Art and PE Rotations will continue this week. Your student know which day they have PE so please have them wear appropriate shoes.

Our FIRST Market Day is this Friday! We will be talking to your student about all the "ins and outs" of Market Day this week.

We had our first STEM project on Friday. We always encourage students to extend their learning at home through inquiry and experimentation. How/why does the harmonica work? What experiments can I conduct?

We made it through the first full week and we are more than ready to go.

Reading: We will fully dive into our new Language Arts program this week. Our focus question is: How can government influence the way we live? Throughout this unit we will be learning about our local, state, and federal governments. We will also be learning how to find key details and main ideas.

Social Studies: We will be focusing upon the early people of California..the California Indians and hunter-gatherer societies.

Math: We will continue with place value as we review standard and expanded notation and move into rounding of whole numbers. Remember to practice your math facts!

Science: Our focus is upon adaptations - the physical and behavioral characteristics that help organisms survive.

Art and PE Rotations will continue this week. Your student know which day they have PE so please have them wear appropriate shoes.
